Spotlight on Nuts & Sprouting Seeds & Beans

We are now offering a fantastic range of carefully selected organic nuts, seeds and beans which compliment a natural and healthy, wholefood diet as they are all excellent sources of digestible protein, dietary fibre, minerals, vitamins and the essential fatty acids (EFA's), omegas 3, 6 and 9.

Almonds, Cashews, Brazils and Walnuts can all be integrated into sweet or savoury dishes. Simply sprinkle them over meals such as breakfasts, salads or vegetables, or eat them as a healthy snack. However, have you ever tried making nut milk? It is so easy and can open up a whole new world of tasty delights. Simply add one cup of nuts with two or three cups of water to a blender. Blend thoroughly, then strain through a nut bag to produce creamy, healthy nut milk. You can make delicious milk drinks or powerpacked smoothies by adding a range of superfoods such as acai berry, camu camu, mesquite, maca and cacao powders, Manuka honey and herb powders too. You can even make thick creams and delicious cashew nut ice cream too ... have a read of our ideas and suggestions for each of these nuts in the Food category of our website...

Sprouting seeds and beans are the most nutritious vegetables in the world and can be grown all year round. Sprouting your own seeds and beans will produce small but highly nutritious green shoots and leaves which are a great addition to any meal. They are rich in naturally occuring enzymes which help with the easy digestion and use of nutrients by the body. They are also rich in a wide variety of minerals such as calcium, iron and zinc; vitamin E and many of the B-vitamins. The Salad Sprouter (Plastic Tray) provides the complete kit necessary for sprouting your own seeds and beans at home on your windowsill in the kitchen. It comes with three shelves, a nutritional chart and some Alfalfa seeds to help you get started. The Sproutman's Sprout Chart is a field guide that provides you with everything that you need to know about growing and eating sprouts, at a glance. We offer a range of seeds and beans in our Food category and even some sprouting mixes offering a great variety in one packet...

At Happilyraw, we love to make tasty, nutritious dips using
pumpkin, sunflower and sesame seeds. Use a seed grinder to turn your seeds into a fine powder and then in a bowl, mix with the juice of a freshly squeezed lemon, a drop of aloe vera juice, flax or hemp oil, a pinch of sea salt and a teaspoon of your favourite supergreen powders. Then simply drizzle over your meal or make a thicker dip for crunchy carrot or cucumber sticks. Although not called a 'seed grinder', we can highly recommend the Krups Twin Blade Coffee Mill which we have been using for years to grind up our seeds (available at the bottom of our Books page).

Happilyraw helps you to...

...support a healthy immune function with a fantastic range of relevant
herb powders which are a great source of vegetable protein, containing many valuable nutrients specific to your needs. Simply add to dips, smoothies or even when making your own raw chocolates. Great for self-encapsulation too...

...support your bones, muscle tissue, skin, hair and nails with
Silicium G5 Silica Liquid and Silicium G5 Silica Gel. Silica is an active ingredient which helps to support general health. As we get older, the natural silica present in our bodies drops and needs to be replenished regularly to help maintain the many natural functions of the body.

...support a healthy immune system with
Waiora Zeolite Natural Cellular Defense (NCD), a naturally occuring food supplement. Zeolites are natural volcanic minerals with a unique, complex, cage-like crystalline structure. Their key benefits may include supporting a healthy immune system, facilitating the removal of unwanted particles from the body and balancing body pH.
Have you found these new products...?

Crazy Jack Organic Apricots and Dates are an excellent source of natural fibre and sugars, and nutrients including iron, calcium, phosphorous and vitamin A. They are naturally dark because they have simply been dried by the sun and without using any preservatives which helps to retain their delicious sweet and rich flavours.

Kyolic Aged Garlic Extract Liquid is derived from organically grown garlic. The garlic cloves undergo a unique extraction process to create many beneficial compounds which can be assimilated by the body faster than other forms. It is free from sodium, yeast and dairy products and does not have any garlic odour.

Flax Seed (Linseed) Oil is an excellent source of essential fatty acids (EFA's) which are healthy, 'good fats', such as omega 6 and particularly high in omega 3. It is cold-pressed and produced to ecological standards, free from agro-chemicals. A great additon when making dips for salad and vegetable dishes.

We've added some more recommended reading to the top of our
Books page, including 'The Sprouting Book', by Ann Wigmore, which discusses a wide variety of different sprouting seeds and beans, sprouting methods and includes some delicious recipes.

Happilyraw's Healthy Hints

We offer a number of laminated and easy-to-read reference guides and charts in the Accessories category of the
Lifestyle page. Have you ever wondered what vitamins and minerals might be missing from your diet? With the Nutritional Awareness Chart, you can check that your diet includes foods from all the finest food sources and those which will provide you with your missing vitamins and minerals. Along with the Sproutman's Spout Chart mentioned above, the Wheatgrass Juice, Green Drink & Sprouts Permachart is packed with specific approaches to green foods like wheatgrass and green drinks as well as a comprehensive reference guide to the cultivation of sprouted seeds and beans.

There are many healthy, naturally sweet ingredients which can be included in your favourite recipes. Mesquite Meal Powder,
Lucuma, Carob and Licorice Powder can all be used to sweeten a wide range of desserts, raw chocolates, smoothies, milk drinks, even herbal teas. We love to drink Tulsi Holy Basil Leaf tea with a touch of licorice root powder, mmmmm!

What's been happening at Happilyraw?

Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil...

Clearspring Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil is made from the highest quality Italian olives which are first cold-pressed using a simple mechanical method without chemicals or added heat. Many ordinary culinary oils do not have any distinct flavour and lack any nutritional value because they have been lost during the production process. However, Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil retains all the nutrition of the parent seed, containing a full spectrum of omegas 3, 6 and 9 and the antioxidant, Vitamin E.

Organic Ghee...

Ghee, otherwise known as clarified butter, is a healthy cooking oil due to its content of essential fatty acids which are an essential part of our diet. It is rich in easy-to-digest short fatty acids and vitamins A, D, E and K. This Organic Ghee from Pukka Herbs is a great alternative to butter and is suitable for people who are sensitive to lactose as the heating procedure used to clarify the butter, removes the lactose content.

Mushrooms Powders...

Just a reminder that we are now stocking a fantastic range of high quality mushroom powders, Reishi, Chaga, Lion's Mane, Cordyceps and Turkey Tail. Mushrooms are an excellent source of vegetarian protein, containing many valuable nutrients. Simply add to smoothies, dips and when making delicious raw chocolate.

Another birthday coming soon...

Happilyraw will soon be celebrating its 1st birthday. We can't believe how quick the year has gone since we first registered the company and started out with our new and exciting venture. In line with our business ethos (as written on the 'About Us' page of the website), for every customer that has purchased from our shop this year, we will donate an amount of money to charitable community projects when we reach our first birthday, with the funds split between organisations in the UK and India. More details to come in our future newsletters. Please feel free to share this special weekend offer amongst your family and friends.

Lucky Number 8...

Mushrooms have been used in traditional Chinese medicine for hundreds of years. We are offering an 8% discount because the Chinese consider number 8 to be a lucky number due to the fact that in Mandarin Chinese, it sounds like the word 'prosper' or 'wealth'.

So why not take this opportunity to stock up with your favourite items or try something new with our 'Lucky Number 8' discount for all orders over £15* subtotal, valid until midnight on Tuesday 17th August. (*Discount only applies to a minimum sub-total of £15 which excludes the VAT and delivery charges. Simply place your order, no discount code required).

Reishi Mushrooms...

The Reishi Mushroom (Ganoderma lucidum), which grows in damp, dark forests, is one of the most revered herbs used in traditional Chinese medicine. At one time, this mushroom was only used by the ruling classes, but today it is cultivated all over the world for everyone to enjoy.

Chaga Mushrooms...

The Chaga Mushroom (Inonotus obliquus) grows predominantly on the side of the Birch tree and looks like the burnt remains of charred wood. Chaga Mushrooms have been part of folk medicine for many centuries across North America, Russia China and parts of Eastern Europe, being widespread across Poland. It is also known as Cinder Conk or Birch Mushroom.

Lion's Mane Mushrooms...

The Lion's Mane Mushroom (Hericium erinaceus) is also known as the Hedgehog Mushroom or Pom Pom Mushroom and grows amongst temperate forests across the northern hemisphere. The reasons for the wide variety of names are easier to understand when you see this mushroom growing in the wild. The North American variety grows in a single clump of long, cascading tendrils which resemble the flowing mane of a lion or large pom poms.

Cordyceps Mushrooms...

The Cordyceps Mushroom (Cordyceps sinensis) is also known as the Caterpillar Fungus and grows mainly in Tibet and across the Himalayan regions of India, Nepal and Bhutan. It has been widely used in traditional Chinese medicine since the 17th century.

Turkey Tail Mushrooms...

The Turkey Tail Mushroom (Coriolus versicolor) grows in woodlands throughout the world and can be found in a wide variety of colours, hence the species name, 'versicolor' which means 'several colours'. It is commonly called the 'Turkey Tail' mushroom in the USA because of its resemblance to the tail of a wild turkey. It has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for many years where it is known as Yun zhi.

High quality powders...

All these mushrooms powders are products of the USA where they have been certified organic by the United States Agricultural Department (USDA) and/or the Ohio Ecological Food & Farm Association (OEFFA). However, in the UK, we cannot make claims that these are organic products.

We can, however, state that the mushrooms used for these powders have been grown pesticide free and do not contain and excipients, granulating agents, fillers, preservatives or other agents.

Great to use with...

Mushrooms are an excellent source of vegetarian protein, containing many valuable nutrients. You can simply add these mushroom powders to smoothies, dips and for making delicious raw chocolate. As these mushroom powders are hot-water extracted to maximise polysaccharide content, they are perfect for self-encapsulation. We are selling the smaller 113g (4oz) bags, but please do let us know if you would like us to stock the larger, 454g (1lb) bags.

Please note though that due to UK law, we are unable to share any further information in this email regarding the possible benefits and appropriate uses of these mushroom products. The importance of good digestion...

What we eat to nourish our body is only part of the answer to achieving vibrant health. We also need to adequately break down our food so that the nutrients can be of benefit to us, otherwise we might be wasting all the healthy food that we are eating, or worse still, it might be causing us digestive distress which can compromise our health. As most of us have strained this function of our body over the years, we can still support ourselves with some of the following ideas and products. Simply click on any of the highlighted products below for more information...

Digestive Enzymes...

Enzymes are vital for every metabolic, hormonal and digestive process in the body. Enzymes are produced by the body to help completely break down food for proper absorption. In order to thoroughly digest our food, we need to chew it properly, maintain the correct acid levels in the stomach and achieve a consistent transit time through the small and large intestines.

Upon entering the small intestine, the pancreas releases three main digestive enzymes: protease to digest protein; lipase to digest fat; and amylase to digest carbohydrates. Our natural enzyme reserve can be prematurely depleted due to the consumption of processed foods, lifestyle stresses and ill health, so that every process in the body becomes less efficient resulting in a range of potential health problems, like allergies, inflammation, metabolism issues and nutrient deficiency.

Happilyraw offers a range of digestive enzyme supplements including our new Essential Digestive Plus which stimulates the growth of the friendly bacteria, Bifidobacterium, to aid digestion, absorption of essential minerals and the synthesis of vitamins. LifeGive HHI-Zyme, formulated by the Hippocrates Institute, contains a full spectrum of plant-based digestive enzymes to help your body absorb essential nutrients, vitamins and minerals. E3 Enzymes Supreme is a digestive and cleansing blend of plant-based enzymes and other plant-based derivatives.

Herbs...

Historically, herbs have been used extensively for maintaining health. There are certain herbs that can be considered more relevant when seeking to maintain good digestion and intestinal health. Happilyraw offers a very extensive range of organic, wildcrafted and pesticide-free herbs. Those specifically related to digestion include Aloe Vera and Aloe Ferox, Ginger, Neem, Triphala, Cloves, Green Black Walnut, Wormwood, Cat's Claw, Pau d'Arco, Noni, Peppermint, Fennel and Cardamom. Choose from loose herbs, capsules or tinctures, depending on your preferences.

Please note that due to UK law, we are unable to share any further information regarding the possible benefits and appropriate uses of herbs. We strongly recommend that you undertake thorough research before consuming these herb products to ensure that they are suitable for your individual circumstances, especially if your are pregnant, breast feeding or taking any prescription medications. You may find the 'Useful Links' page on our website helpful.

Probiotics...

Probiotics help to rebalance the bacteria within the human intestines because the unfriendly bacteria have often been allowed to flourish due to the high sugar and acid contents of our diet. Healthy human intestines contain billions of micro-organisms (bacteria), both good and bad. By restoring this balance with friendly bacteria, the gut can function and digest food more efficiently, immune function is supported and synthesis can occur of a wide variety of vitamins, minerals and nutrients.

For a more gentle start in rebalancing your gut flora, Probiotic 14 is a superior blend of 14 viable strains of friendly bacteria, containing 4.5 billion CFU (colony forming units) per capsule. For those people who wish to take higher quantities of CFU, Complete Probiotics packs 66 billion CFU gut-friendly bacteria in every capsule, making it a very cost effective and therapeutic choice (please let us know if you would appreciate us stocking the 90 capsule bottles). For longer term maintenance, Nature's Biotics is a soil-based probiotic formula that helps to maintain bowel health and support the immune system.

Intestinal Cleansing...

In the same way that we clean our skin, the inner skin of our intestinal lining benefits from regular cleansing. Colon cleansing should be an important part of our self-care because much of the food that we eat today is refined, preserved, coloured, genetically engineered and treated with many chemicals. This can hinder the effective digestion and absorption of health-sustaining nutrients through the colon wall as debris is not eliminated and can build up, providing a breeding ground for bad bacteria.

Expertly blended herbs used for cleansing, in conjunction with changes to your diet and lifestyle can be very beneficial to your overall health, including easing the strain on your other organs of elimination such as the liver, kidneys and the skin. The high quality and thoroughly researched herbal formulas used in the Blessed Herbs range of colon cleansing kits are designed to restore and encourage the natural functions of your entire digestive system. Happilyraw also supplies safe equipment for enemas, including non-roasted coffee.

Spotlight on Nutritious Foods

Here at Happilyraw, we offer a fantastic range of carefully selected foods to compliment a natural and healthy, wholefood diet.

Aloe Vera and Aloe Ferox Juice has been used for thousands of years for its healing properties. It is rich in naturally occuring enzymes, essential healthy sugars, iron and calcium. Aloe supports the immune system and soothes digestive function. You can take it in the morning or blend in with a fresh juice.

Organic, dried and sliced mushrooms provide a great source of vegetable protein. Simply rehydrate and add to rice, salad or vegetable dishes. Shelled hemp seeds are an excellent source of the essential fatty acids, omega 3, omega 6 and omega 9 as well as a valuable, easily digestible protein. They can simply be sprinkled over food, added to desserts or smoothies and even whizzed up in the blender to make fresh hemp milk.

High quality, cold-pressed oil like Hemp Oil, can be used to create delicious desserts, added to smoothies or simply drizzled over salads. Organic Exra Virgin Coconut Oil is a healthy saturated fat, great as an alternative for butter or margarine and stable for use in cooking. It can help maintain a strong immune system and sustained energy levels. It is believed to support healthy intestinal flora, improve digestion and nutrient absorption due to its natural anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. Udo's Choice Ultimate Oil is an expertly blended ratio source of omega's 3, 6 and 9.

Manuka Honey is made by the bees who feed on the flowers of the Manuka Bush (also known as the 'Tea Tree'). It is traditionally prized for its medicinal qualities, soothing deep rustic flavours and earthy aromas. We love to use Manuka Honey to sweeten drinks and smoothies. It is very tasty when combined with lemon and ginger in a warm drink, mmm! We only stock honey that has not been heat treated, so retaining the natural goodness of the hive.

Unrefined Coarse Ground Sea Salt is pure and natural, nutritionally intact and collected from source, just as 'Mother Nature' intended. It is an authentic, unrefined, pale grey, Celtic style salt with a more superior taste, which may be of benefit to your health. It is unrefined, unbleached and has not been processed in any way. It is more nutritious than table salt, retaining a full spectrum of trace minerals, essential for every function in your body in the proper balance. Did you know that we are all made up of a large percentage of sea water?? Black Salt is high in sulphur compounds that can aid detoxification and with a full mineral profile, it is delicious on meals of all types.

Happilyraw helps you to...

...reduce environmental waste by using these attractive glass straws which help turn smoothies and herbal drinks into even more fabulous drinks. A whole new taste sensation when you use a glass straw, replacing the toxic, plastic, non-recyclable straw. A great present for someone which can be bought with or without 'anti-roll' bumps and even a carrying case made from naturally grown bamboo.

...boost the nutrition of your home grown fruit and vegetables by enriching the soil with natural silica clay and natural soil revitalizer. Silicic acids are required by plants for optimum growth. This silica rich clay contains a full spectrum of minerals and a high silica content. The annual use of the soil revitalizer also supports the return of nutrient and mineral rich soils in which to grow your fruit and vegetables next year.

Spotlight on Bath Clays & Flakes

Clay has been used as an ancient natural remedy to cleanse the body and encourage healing by removing toxins via the skin, bypassing other elimination organs like the liver and kidneys. Clay has been used historically for poultices over bites, sores, aches and pains.

Sacred Clay is a pyrothyllite clay, containing a full spectrum of vital trace minerals and rare earths and possesses extraordinary electromagnetic qualities not found in other clays. It is effective at restoring balance by simultaneously promoting the elimination of toxins while providing balanced mineralization. The rich silica content may explain the silky smooth skin most people experience after using this clay in a bath or as a clay mask.

Treat yourself to a clay bath, facial, body wrap or poultice, once or twice a week, combining
Sacred Clay and Black Beauty Bath & Facial Additive from Vitality Herbs & Clay. Uncover inner radiance with a natural source of magnesium and clay blend, nourishing tired or depleted skin. Burn some incense sticks or light candles in your bathroom whilst meditating, listening to the radio, or catching up on podcasts to make the most of your precious time.

Buy our combination kits with Black Beauty Bath Additive for additional relaxation and cleansing properties. Available in various
Sacred Clay and Black Beauty Bath & Facial Additive combination kit sizes, foot poultice kits and single premixed bath sachets.

Happilyraw’s healthy hints…

Drinking plenty of plain water each day between meals with a small pinch of full spectrum
mineral salt in each litre can help to maintain adequate hydration of every cell in the body. This allows easier movement of nutrients into the cells and waste products to be removed, helping to keep your body and mind relaxed. Learn more about the power of hydration from 'Your Body's Many Cries For Water' by Dr. F.Batmanghelidj (2007) available from our Books page.
